Medical Alert Service Dog For Harley

Donation protected

Hi! My name is Harley, and I'm your (somewhat) typical 19yr old girl.

..Aside from the fact that I have been struggling with severe and chronic migraines for a long while now. These migraines have impacted my life so severely that I could lose my job due to the days I have taken off to  endure all the pain in a quiet room, or to almost be rushed to the Emergency Room when my emergency medication fails.
These god awful things are ruining my life- I hardly go anywhere without my medication at the ready. I always have my keys within quick reach  when I'm out, just incase I feel the slightest twinge of pain, indicating that a migraine could be coming, and to immediatelly retreat home. I can't go outside for long periods of time, go to the gym, or sometimes even the movies.
The worser part is, that, unlike most migraine sufferers, I don't get warning signs of incoming episodes. I don't get auras or a sudden numbness in my body. Mine are all sudden and random. Which is quite troublesome...
I get severe vertigo, light, sound, and touch sensitivity, nausea, vomiting, dizziness upon standing, and on bad occasions, complete memory loss as to where I am, what I was doing, etc.
Along with this, I have trauma left over from middle and high school and previous known individuals, severe Depression, and Anxiety that substantially limits my exposure to the public. I can not go out in public spaces alone. I MUST have my boyfriend, or a trusted loved one by me at all times, and to even be a wall to block me against someone approaching from behind. Even work is a complete nightmare, seeing as I'm exposed to people from all sides.

I am so tired of being restricted to my home and bed, for fear that a random Migraine episode will strike me down, or a panic attack will appear when I'm out getting groceries. I miss the life I used to have- I miss my independence..

I was introduced to the world of Service Dogs from a good friend of mine, and she helped me with my research on Migraine Detection, and believed a Service Dog would help me regain my independence, as well as safety, and peace of mind.
And ever since then, I have sent myself on a mission to seek out other Service Dog handlers like me, and to educate myself on what wonders these dogs can preform, as well as the laws protecting them and other disabled individuals.

With my Service Dog, I will have:

Increased Freedom: The dog will allow me to have a more stress-free access to public places where lots of people gather, i.e Malls, Movie Theaters, Parks, Stores

Early Migraine Alerts: Being a Migraine sufferer who doesn't experience warning signs of oncoming episodes is quite a bother. My Service Dog would be able to give me early alerts as to when another attack would be coming. Many Migraine Alert Service Dogs have predicted their handlers' episodes up to an hour in advance of when a migraine will strike. This would be an absolute godsent to me and my anxieties with my disability.

Blocking/Coverage In Public Areas: When I am out in public, having someone approach me from behind (or in front of me) is an absolute panic fest. Service Dogs can be trained to 'block' a person from getting too close to their handler, or alerting them to an incoming passerby. This will allow me to have less frequent attacks and violent episodes than before.

Response To A Migraine Attack: When my Migraines strike, sometimes, they strike hard and without mercy. This leaves me bedridden and unable to move or communicate to those around me. Leaving me in pain, and putting those who care about me into a state of confusion as to what to do. With my Service Dog always by my side, with a small command, they would be able to turn off lights, retrieve water from the fridge, retrieve my medicine, provide warnings to me and my family, and more.

Increased Stability In My Lifestyle: As someone who just wants to live a normal life, having a disability like Chronic Migraines and severe Anxiety makes it horrendously difficult. Trips to the store end up in having to leave early due to sensory overloads and lack of an outlet or a calming mechanism. Going out with friends and family often ends with me having to go home early due to a sudden Migraine or panic attack. With a trained Service Dog, I would be able to have early alerts, less anxiety, more freedom to engage in fun activities with people, and to have the feeling of being "normal" again.

I have recently found a breeder here in my state that breeds very healthy, beautiful, and work driven Australian Shepherds, but they aren't cheap. I have already accumulated about $1000.00, but the puppy I will be getting (hopefully) later this year will be about $2,000, if not maybe a bit more. My $3,000.00 goal will help me with the rest of the total for my puppy, her food, bedding, shots, and early training classes if needed.

I would so sincerely appreciate each and every person who sees this to at the very least share this post, if you are unable to donate. Even a single dollar helps me get closer to my goal!
Thank you so much for reading this~!
