Hey All!
The International University Sports Federation (acronym is FISU - in French) is hosting the 2018 FISU World University Cross-Country Championship in Switzerland this April!
Based on my performance representing McMaster University in USPORTS (the Canadian National University Championships) for Cross-Country, I have been selected to compete in FISU along with a few more top university runners to represent Canada in this international competition!!!
FISU is unique in the sense that collegiate runners from many universities from around the world come together to form a team to represent their nation. In my case, I will be joining fellow Canadian university runners from around the country to form Team Canada, where we will face other countries in a (I'm sure painful, but exciting!) 10km cross-country race in Switzerland in less than a month!
Unfortunately, the trip is not funded and it is difficult (especially as a university student) to manage to pay for these kinds of expenses, including the flight and accommodations. I'm not going on a leisure trip; I'm going there to race my hardest and represent our country with pride and with a desire to push our limits. With the competition approaching in less than a month, I was encouraged by my coach and some of my teammates and friends to set up this GoFundMe Campaign! Any donation, no matter how big or small, makes a difference and it means the world to me to help me out in this journey to proudly represent Canada and develop further as an athlete in an international setting!
I thank you all so much for reading through this, and by no means do I want to pressure anyone into donating. We give according to how much we have, much how we keep running according to how much there is left in the tank! From the bottom of my heart, I truly want to say thank you and please remember that the journey that an athlete takes is one of wonderful opportunities that came from hard, consistent training and work intertwined with the desire to bring the best not only to oneself, but to others by the things we do - through my races I hope to show that, with grit and determination, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to. Truly, it works! Thank you so much again.
