Sensory Classrooms at GES

I have been a proud parent of Grenada Elementary students for 5 years now. I’ve been so lucky to be able to take my kids to a school where they are loved by their teachers and friends. But like many school districts, when it comes to the extra things that kids need, sometimes the funding just isn’t there. In the time that Davey has been a student at GES i have had the pleasure of meeting so many of his fellow special needs classmates. And I’ve been able to see just how much this school needs sensory friendly classrooms for these kids. From filtered fluorescent light shades, to calming spaces, to flexible seating (ex. Wobble seats, bean bags, rockers), to motivational tools. There are endless amounts of proven facts through research studies that show how setting up classrooms for special needs kids with these accommodations drastically improves their performance, reduces stress and behaviors, and creates an environment for these kids to make huge break throughs. After years of just wishing it would happen, i want to finally be proactive for my son and his teachers and friends and finally make this happen!
