Community I just found out about this great opportunity and only have 2 weeks to raise these funds. I would love your support to travel to the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France as the lead actor in and independent short film "Garden of Eden".  This is a once in a life time opportunity to expand and make deeper connections to the art of acting and the potential to do more films in the future. I would have never imagined that this opportunity would exist but it has manifested!

FUNDS SUPPORT: 5 days in France - Flight, Lodging, Transportation, Accreditation Fee and the chance to be grounded and present in soaking up all this opportunity has to offer.

"Garden of Eden," is my film debut and Co-Director's Dennison's and William's very first film project.  The film is 1 of 30 films selected out of over 200 submissions.

This film brings integrity to the conversation about being Gay, Queer, Gender Non-conforming, Black in America and embodying all of that while being of Caribbean descent. I look forward to this film continuing conversations about resistance to homophobia in the Black community and creating acceptance in Black families. This film manifests opportunities for identities to be liberated in community by reminding many they are not alone.

Synopsis: Following an altercation with her father about her sexuality, 17-year old Jaliyah is forced into homelessness just neighborhoods away. Coming to terms with her sexuality, Jaliyah's identity evolves as does her disdain for religion, society, and cultural norms.

This independent short film "Garden of Eden",  accepted in the 2017 Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, is a New York based film created by makers Imani Dennison and Robin Williams.

So much gratitude to the writer, directors, cast and crew as well as all the people that supported me during the creation of this wonderfully created bright light of art.  It has and will open doors of connecting me to what it's is to be an Artist.
Garden of Eden actor spotlight!
Anyanwu is making her film debut in Garden of Eden as the main character, Jaliyah. Her start came through the role of "Messiah" in the 'Messiah Complex', by Nia Withersoon. Since her moments on stage at BRIC in Brooklyn and in the Downtown Urban Theater Festival in Manhattan she has found out what transformation can come out of becoming an artist. She has done readings for the National Black Theatre and the Fire&Ink Black Theater conference and is nurturing her found love for acting.

She says 'learning that being Black Queer and a Woman in one body had space in this art is one of the best moments" she's had. Anyanwu is also an Educator. She holds a B.A.in Pan African Studies and an Adolescent Treatment Cetification (UC Berkeley). She is also a practicing doula and is completing an M.A. in Human Rights Education (University of San Francisco).
