Hi Everyone!
This is Jacob Mason Little! He is the son of my best friend Carol and her fiance Jason. Jakey was born with tracheomalacia, which is an abnormal collapse of the tracheal walls. Jacob's parent's were told that he would likely outgrow this condition, but, sadly, he did not.
At 16 months, Jacob began having severe respiratory issues that lead to frequent hospitalizations. Carol and Jason eventually pushed to see an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist, who would determine he would need a tracheal reconstruction called a slide tracheoplasty due to the seriousness of his airway obstruction. If left untreated, his condition could be life threatening.
Jacob has endured so much in his short little life...hospitalizations, medications, examinations, breathing treatments, anesthesia, scopes; yet he has always remained the happiest, sweetest little boy, who is always into something! This past Monday, November 21, 2016, Carol and Jason brought their baby boy to Mass Eye and Ear, where he underwent a 5 hour Slide tracheoplasty. He is currently in the PICU (pediatric intensive care unit). He will be at Mass Eye and Ear for the next few weeks, and will require physical therapy and rehabilitation pertinent to recovery.
I wanted to set up this page, in the spirit of helping out the people we love and care about. Both Carol and Jay have had to take quite a bit of time off work, not to mention medical bills and related costs. Jason is one of the hardest working people I know, and Carol one of the strongest...having just lost her Mom to Alzheimer's Disease in August, and she lost her Dad 6 years ago. The love they have for each other, their baby boy, and Gillian and Davin is unsurpassed. Please consider donating to help out this beautiful family during this challenging time!!! Thank You!!!
