Send C to Surgery!

Clarice needs extensive emergency surgery in the next 24 hours to attempt to save her life from pyometra and IMHA combination.

Thankyou so much for your time. <3

Never did I think this would be me, my fur daughter Clarice dealing with complex medical issues, having to scramble to find specialists, and even here as I type this I am humbled to the bone to have to set up a Go Fund Me account, but the Bible says

"Pride comes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall" Proverbs 16:18

So I am ripping myself of my pride because I can not let my sweet precious Clarice suffer due to being ashamed to ask for help.

For those of you who don't know background, I will give you a short synopsis of my 2 year old boxer, Clarice's life.

My husband Jared and I brought her home as our first Christmas together gift. (on 12/26/13 to be exact) My heart was insantly enfgulfed by her sweet, but spunky spirit. She was a gorgeous baby boxer; how could she not steal my heart?
Four days later, we found ourselves in complete shock and pain when she got mauled by another dog; There I was waiting in the animal hospital staring at the florecent lights with tears rolling off my cheeks and my heart in my stomach. Surely they were going to tell me she's done for, but that's not what happened.

The next five days were full of obstacles, but after almost everything that could go wrong, a week in the hospital, all the odds against her, she came home with us to the doctor's disbelief; She became a living miracle. I spent the next week reteaching her to walk, laying by her side all day giving her her medicine, feeding her, trying to teach her where to go potty (that was a long road), but we did it and we did it together. That was it. Our bond was sealed. In the most painful days, the most beautiful indescribable connection between her and i was formed and I wouldn't change a thing because she now means more to us than i think she ever would have if we didn't experience those dark days together.

Fast forward to now. She was never spayed. With all of the trauma she experienced in her puppyhood, her cardiac arrest, her brain trauma, her heart murmur-the vets were okay with taking their time to spay her. The idea of putting her under was risky and we wanted to wait until this year to do a full EKG to check her heart progress and hopefully get her fixed. Well, here we are now, she just finished her third heat cycle and unfortunately she developed an infection known as pyrometra. The definition is as follows: "Pyometra is defined as an infection in the uterus. It is considered a serious and life threatening condition that must be treated quickly and aggressively. " On top of this, she developed IMHA which is defined as a disease in which the immune system reacts against red cells just as it would against a foreign bacteria or virus. When this happens, red cells are destroyed, anemia results, and oxygen delivery is greatly reduced. It can be a deadly and complex condition to treat. Pair it with pyometra and you're in for a wild risky ride. Put this on top of all of Clarice's disadvantages and we are setting her up for round 2 of miracle pup status when she makes it through this. ( Because we have to keep the faith)

How can this be treated?
Clarice's regular vet told us on friday that her PCV (packed cell volume) is at a 16. Healthy PCV for her is 45. A dog is on death's door around 10. He told us that if she was suffering with pyometra alone that he would need to do surgery same day, but because she is SO terrible anemic, surgery is a huge risk. He also said if she was JUST dealing with the IMHA, we would act aggressively with steroids, but that is a HUGE risk to the pyometra so she was in a rock in a hard spot. We visited him again on saturday and her PCV was now 15. We were growing concerned, but he wanted her to continue on her antibiotics and see him again monday.

Very early sunday morning I was woken up to her labored breathing and I knew we couldnt go a day without her being seen especially after I checked her gums and they remained pale. I took her into the emergency vets, they checked her PCV and it was still at 15; this is just not a safe level she can afford to stay at. The vets told us she should see a specialist within the next 24 hours. The kind of pyometra she has demands surgery. It will be risky, but we will have to make sure plenty of blood for transfusion is available. They gave us specialists' names and told us she needs to see them ASAP. We then began our process of getting quotes. The results hit us like a bag of bricks. We already drained all emergency funds within her first 3 days of testing. How would we accomplish this? We can and we will. As I've shared her journey through social media, I got many messages urging me to start a fundraiser page and as much as I wanted to say no, we'll find another way. We don't have time to risk Clarice's life to save my pride. She is in DESPERATE need of funds for this pivital surgery in attempts to save her life.

Bless her heart, she is two years old and already been through more trauma than most pups will see in their whole life. She deserves a long life of being fiesty (because I miss that side of her) and doing what she does best and that's bringing people together and making them smile. She is my Queen and I nothing in this world would mean more to me than if you are able to contribute to her astronomical surgery in even the smallest way. Truly, no amount is small enough to be ashamed of. Let's all put our pride aside and Pray for C, and SEND C TO SURGERY.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
She was a miracle once; she can be one again. <3
