Hello everyone!
The PIANO MATT SEXTET has earned selection to be the Long Island Blues Society's representative band for the Youth Showcase at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN!
This is a big honor... the International Blues Challenge is run by The Blues Foundation, and we will be playing at the Youth Showcase, during the event's semi-final round. There will be participants from all fifty states and many other countries.
The Piano Matt Sextet is six 16-and17-year old musicians, all from Newfield High School in Selden, NY:
"Piano Matt" Lifford - piano
Angel Holmes - drums
Brenden Cope - trumpet
Dylan Jones - trombone
Noah Albarracin - upright bass
Victoria Bartunek - baritone saxophone
This is the music event of a lifetime and it would also be great to put on our college applications next year :) -- we are all juniors in high school.
So why this GoFundMe? Simply put, it's expensive to take six kids and their folks down to Memphis. We will need to raise money to help defer the cost of lodging and transportation to the International Blues Challenge. The sooner we can raise money for lodging, the cheaper it will be.
