This year ACT Theatre Company (formerly Auburn Community Theater) has been given the opportunity to represent that State of Kansas at the Regional Association of American Community Theatre Festival. We are very honored and excited to be able to represent our state in a competition among many other talented community theatres from states across the Midwest.
This is a great undertaking for our tiny organization and it will take a great deal of money we just don't have. Any funds raised will go toward paying for transportation from Topeka to Brainerd, Minnesota. This will be transportation (gas) to take four actors, a crew of three. We also need to pay for lodging over the course of the festival and admission fees for the theatre and the performers to get into the festival.
We hope to raise $5000 to cover all expenses, and we have a very short turn around time. The festival is April 27-30, just a short month away. The cast is furiously rehearsing and preparing. We hope to have a show for the public on April 6 to support our trip.
Your support would mean so much to ACT Theatre, the four performers and our crew. It would also mean a lot for the State of Kansas to be represented in this regional competition. If we win we will advance to a national competition. This is the same festival that Topeka Civic Theatre won a number of years ago. I think it's time that Kansas again showed we have great artistic talent here in Middle America. With your support we can do this.
