Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We would like to begin by saying thank you to all our family and friends who have congratulated us on our recent engagement. We are so excited to begin the process of preparing for our marriage in a way that is honoring and obedient to God.
We’ve been in a season of transition the past few months, and in the midst of heaviness, discouragement, and uncertainty, God opened an unexpected door for us as a couple. We will be selling our things, and answering a call to work this summer in Brakney Pennsylvania for Arrowhead Bible Camp, serving adult campers with special needs. We will be leaving May 20th for the Summer and camp ends August 11th.
Isaiah 30:21: Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”
We are confident that God has been preparing us for to take a step of faith like this. While we are at camp, Sarah will be a counselor and will have either 1 camper for “1 on 1” camp weeks, or 5 campers other weeks. She will also be the music person for half of the summer, leading the campers in a time of worship through song and dancing. Kevin will be coordinating groups that come in to help run the camp, teaching them where and how to serve and being there for them to encourage and support them.
It will be a lot of work, and it will be a time where we are stretched and challenged individually, but also as a couple. As we prepare for our wedding, the camp is setting us up with premarital counseling sessions, to help build a solid foundation for our marriage.
With that being said, this is a decision that goes beyond our understanding on how to make ends meet. God has called us to Pennsylvania, and we know He will provide the funds to do so. We are extending the opportunity to be a part of what God is doing in our story for those who may want to support us financially by having this Go Fund Me.
We will be making $150 each every week at the camp.
We will have 10 weeks of camp this summer.
We will have food, and housing. But we still have bills to pay, and travel expenses, and also a wedding to plan. We are hoping to raise $3000 for the summer, just to break even with our monthly bills. Anything extra we receive will go towards our wedding/honeymoon fund.
But most importantly, pray for us!
Proverbs 16:9: In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.
God has been asking us to trust Him, even when it doesn’t make sense by our understanding. I have been convinced that if we only trust God when it is within the boundaries of our own understanding, we miss out on the blessing of seeing God intervene in ways only He can. It is hard to leave everything that is safe and makes sense behind, knowing that when the summer is over, we don’t know what’s next. But God knows! We are expecting in faith, that God will open doors only He can open. We have to be obedient, and we are excited to share this journey with all our friends and family.
May God alone be glorified in all these things.
