Send Isaiah to Law School!

This may come as an exciting surprise to some! Others of you may have been wondering about my next move after learning that I halted my pursuit of my Master’s Degree at Fuller Theological Seminary. I’ve waited 4 long and prayerful months to share this with you!

I have made a decision to return to my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia to become more educated in Civil Rights law. I’m going to Law School! I also hope to educate others on how to promote racial reconciliation as a byproduct of true social justice. This is a big start to a lifelong task. Are you praying for me yet?!

I’ve been meditating on Dr. King’s book “Stride Toward Freedom”, where he describes his own journey back to Atlanta after leaving the city. I look back on recent years and cannot help but notice that my commitment to preaching, mentoring, social activism, nonviolence, and to reconciliation mirror that of King. Then I look forward at the future of following generations and I understand that if I do not move daringly now, the next generations may never be daringly moved by hope again.

My move date is April 3. That’s when I’m packing the car and driving from Sacramento to Atlanta! My plan is to spend the Spring and Summer planting roots in urban and suburban areas to begin to understand the effects the racial divide has had on the state of Georgia. I plan to identify where I can step in and play an active role in church and community life to promote social change, to work, and most importantly to study for the LSAT and pursue admission into Emory University. I hope to be mentally and emotionally prepared for the challenge by Spring of 2018, so that I may begin my studies the following August! Time is so very crucial!

For the last seven years, apart from serving internationally, I have refrained from asking for my community’s financial support. However, your financial investment is crucial to this transition! Meeting my financial goal would mean meeting my cross country travel needs and my housing needs for the month of April (budget spreadsheet provided at your request). You’ve supported me through some incredible times already. Let’s continue on this path of trailblazing and making history!
