Dear Friends, This is a request to fund my participation in a volunteer brigade to Cuba April 22 to May 6, 2018. I am a retail worker, single mother who aims to learn and educate myself about the Cuban Revolution and return to share my experience and contribute to building solidarity here in Canada.
The cost of the brigade is $1000 CAN plus return airfare to Vancouver, BC. Grand total is approximately $2300 CAN. From my heart to yours thank you for helping me fund this life changing adventure.
On April 2, 2018 I attended an event hosted by the CCFA, the Canadian-Cuban Friendship Association, which btw had a great turn out...the room was full. I attended the meeting to learn more about Cuba and to meet others that feel the way I do and hopefully sponsor my trip.
As each speaker gave their presentation, I listened eagerly wanting to know more because everything they were saying rang true to me. Then the main speaker spoke, Professor Juan with the help of Mr. Yamil, who translated and did a great job because I felt every word in my heart. Nearing the end I teared up...tears of joy and a sigh of relief... Cuba has long fought for their right as a country to exist in this world..to be recongized for their TRUTH, to continually build and rebuild their communities despite natural disasters like hurricane Irma or the unfair treatement imposed on them by individuals/groups whose true intentions are definitely questionable. Cuba's only guilty for recognizing the faults of humanity, correcting those errors for all our sake for the sake of what is RIGHT..not for the riches one gains. This Professor had described a world my heart has always longed to belong to....a world i thought could never exist in my reality only in my dreams.... SOLIDARITY.
My truth is I'm not a professional anything. I don't have a degree...no Master, no Phd, nor am i attending school to become a certified anything. My education ended with me receiving my high school diploma...many many moons ago. However, what i do have are my personal life experiences.
I promise you I will return home to share my experience with love and shine Cuba's light for all to see. From My heart to yours ...Thank you for donating. VIVA CUBA!
