Send Alina (age 14) to School

Donation protected
Alena is the youngest of 5 sisters living together in an 8’x12’ room near the airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. One bare bulb for lighting and no windows. All five sisters have been raised by a devoted father; a math teacher in a remote mountain village. The family has suffered continuous loss from devastating acts of nature, illness, and lifelong poverty, but they steadfastly believe in themselves and the idea that hard work, honesty, and sharing will prevail.

Alena has entered the 9th grade in the spring of 2019. She has received some scholarships for her academic prowess but the better than average private school will cost an additional $700 for her to continue her studies there.

Alena has a growth hormone deficiency and an eye condition that cannot be cured and yet she, like her sisters, exudes optimism and good cheer. All of the sisters achieve top ranks in their classes with school being their number one priority, two of them working while attending school and directing the money towards school fees and medical bills, often over food.

Last summer Alena was in an invitational debate among the top high schools in Kathmandu, and though she was the smallest and youngest, she took top honors to the jubilant cheers of her four sisters sitting in attendance.

Please help us to raise as much money as possible towards her $700 school fee for 2019.
