Sanctuary not Slaughter
November 2017

Our original plans to commence the next transport in Spring has changed. Storm Ophelia caused extensive damage to Jill's farm and to the housing for the remaining dairy herd.

We are hoping to move them in the next two weeks. Along with what is left in the fund, from our previous call for help, we need to raise 2000 more to cover the transport fees, the TB tests, and the vet checks.

We would appreciate if you could share our new target with your friends. RTE will be filming these cows leaving the farm which will be great exposure for 'sanctuary not Slaughter'.

Thank you for helping us!

A farmer in the south of Ireland has asked Joe at Charlie's Equine Rescue for assistance in saving a herd from slaughter.
This is a working dairy herd of 70 cows who have all bonded over the years in their own unique ways. After years of service and providing an income, this farmer feels that they deserve a life where they can continue to live as a herd together. Rehoming 70 cows might seem aspirational but Joe has now secured their forever home in Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norwich, which was founded by Wendy Valentine. This sanctuary has many residents saved from the farming industry.
So with a home secured for 70 dairy cows; the  next obstacle is securing funds for transport and the necessary vet checks. Can you help Charlie's Equine Rescue bring this herd to Norwich? Can you help Joe give them a lifeline in a beautiful sanctuary far removed from the slaughter house!

For now, the farmer will be remaining anonymous. It is an honour to play a part in bringing this herd to Hillside sanctuary and we are forever grateful to the farmer for letting this beautiful herd go to a 'heaven on earth' for animals.

We believe this is possible with your help!
Be their lifeline by donating what you can to get them to Hillside Animal Sanctuary. Thank you.

Please note:
ny funds surplus to the requirements of this project will go to Wendy Valentine at Hillside Animal Sanctuary to help with the future care of the animals we are sending to this sanctuary.
The main costs are transport and fees the department charge for checks at the port. Phase 1 of this project is sending 45 of the 70 cows. Phase 2 will be sending the remainder of the herd. Phase 3 will be the sheep and ponies from this farm.
