Tour de Fab: The Fab Lab Doc

Donation protected
Tour de Fab is a full-length documentary film about the international network of Fabrication Labs, community workshops where a person can make almost anything, from furniture to computer parts, utilizing shared tools, machinery, and open source knowledge sharing.

Madison and Miriam, two adventurous Millennials from the mountains of Colorado, bicycled from Copenhagen to Barcelona in the summer of 2015, to explore the European Fab Lab movement. Copenhagen is famous for its dedication to urbanism and Barcelona pledged in 2014 to become the first Fab City, fully sustainable within forty years.

Bold frontiers are opening up in DIY manufacturing, encouraging creative invention. Fab Labs test the potential of exciting new technologies and inspire people to master twenty-first century skills. This international movement encompasses artists, engineers, designers, inventors, educators, architects, tinkerers, and many, many more.

Over the course of three months, Madison and Miriam travelled 3000 km through six countries to visit around thirty Fab Labs. In August 2015 they returned to the United States to attend and present at Fab11 in Boston, the 11th international digital fabrication conference.

During their journey, Mad and Mir learned about the people and projects that are pushing the limits of possibility. Now in post-production, the documentary Tour de Fab will tell these amazing stories of creative communities.
