Afton is our charming, smart, and beautiful daughter. She loves to play outside, draw, and is learning a lot in preschool.
Afton also has intractable focal epilepsy with right mesial temporal sclerosis. She has frequent seizures that cannot be adequately controlled with medication and has an atrophied right hippocampus and abnormal anterior right temporal lobe. This type of epilepsy usually presents itself in teens or adults, not toddlers. Afton had her first seizure cluster, brought on by illness, at only 13 months old.
We believe our daughter, with your support and the right medical treatment can have a chance at a seizure-free childhood. Your donation will help cover the high expense of neurosurgery: hospital stays and doctor visits, tests like MRIs and EEGs, medicine, travel expenses, and loss of income while caring for our child.
