Seeds for Siblings
Seeds for Siblings is a Melbourne-based not-for-profit project that provides children who have experienced the loss of a sibling with a small fabric bag of Sunflower Seeds. These seeds can then be planted in memory of their brother or sister. Each bag contains a packet of Sunflower Seeds, a painted Sunflower garden marker and planting instructions.
Currently, I am working with The Royal Woman's Hospital (Melbourne), St. Vincents Private Hospital, St. John of God - Berwick and Royal Hospital for Woman (NSW), Frances Perry House and Mercy Hosptial as well as taking individual orders. To date, Seeds for Siblings has provided almost 600 bags in 18 months to bereaved children.
While the project focuses on supporting bereaved siblings, engaging and collaborating with the community is one of the pillars this project is built upon. Most of the seeds and fabric I use, has been donated to the project from small local business'.
Any donations made via Go Fund Me will be used for two main areas:
1. Cover the cost of items for the bags that are not donated
2. Postage of bags for individuals (not distributed through a hospital)
The money donated to this project will ensure that I am able to continue and reach as many bereaved children as possible and any contributions would be very much appreciated.
Love Jamilla xx
