Seeds for Puerto Rico

Tax deductible

In September 2017, Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico. Immediately following the hurricane, AESARA joined a collective effort to donate $100,000 in relief to the citizens of Puerto Rico.

Almost a year later, power is nearly fully restored and communities are continuing to rebuild. Yet, more remains to be done and areas with the highest poverty rates are in the greatest need.

Today our commitment endures and we’re working to help the people in Loíza, Puerto Rico. Loíza  has one of the highest poverty rates on the island, and was 1 of 10 towns on the island that experienced more deaths from Hurricane Maria than in 2015-2016 combined.

But with a fearless Mayor and her staff, the people of Loiza continue to rise and recover. AESARA is on board to help them, on-site in September 2018 and with ongoing financial assistance.

Please join us in helping the people in Loíza, Puerto Rico with a donation. To make a taxable donation, please contact the AESARA Foundation directly. Every $1 counts and all donations go directly & fully to the people in Loíza.

Together, we’ll offer a helping hand in whatever ways we can – and in turn, they will share their hearts in ways we won’t ever forget.

With all our thanks,

Immediately following Hurricane Maria’s direct hit on Puerto Rico, the AESARA Foundation was moved to channel our giving to the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico.

We contributed to a collective funding effort across multiple agencies, coordinated through the Fundación Comunitaria de Puerto Rico under the leadership of Dr. Nelson Colón.

Together, we helped raise $100,000 in relief and partnered with AEROBridge, which helps match aircraft with emergency response teams and critical supplies to provide disaster assistance and help save lives.

Together, with full funding going toward the goods provided to Puerto Rico, we were able to send 112 tons of generators, medicines, water and food, including 250,000 children’s meals.

We feel a powerful connection to the people in Puerto Rico, who experienced a disaster far beyond our imagination. While we face tremendous challenges in the United States, we have far more resources than our brothers and sisters in our US territory, one as a nation we have committed to support and protect.

In 2017, we committed to continuing our support by sponsoring an onsite team project in 2018.

That time has come.

Nearly a year has passed since Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico. Eleven months later, power is restored to nearly everyone on the island. Despite the long wait, this is a major step forward in helping the island to recover.

But much more is yet needed to restore Puerto Rico.

In July 2018, we met with Hon. Mayor Julia M. Nazario Fuentes and her team at the Municipality of Loíza.  Under their leadership, we saw a deep love, respect and commitment for their community further cementing our commitment to Loíza.

On September 21-25, 2018, 27-people strong, from all corners of the globe will be on-site in Loíza.

Alongside the Loíza citizens and our partners, we will be part of the rebuild of;

·       The rebuild of local residences destroyed by Hurricane Maria

·       The installation of 40 solar panels on a newly designated emergency shelter thus benefitting from efficient and effective renewable energy systems especially in times of crisis.

·        Refurbishment of the Loíza urgency care center due to the damage sustained from Hurricane Maria

Please join us by donating. Financial assistance will aid in the cost of services for engineering and licensed contracting personnel, and the purchase and transport of goods, required for these efforts.

All donations go directly and fully to the people in Loíza, Puerto Rico,

Together, we will make a positive and meaningful change in their world.

Beyond September 2018

At the AESARA Foundation, our trip in September is just one of the stops on our journey with Loíza and we view our partnership to be long-term.

Loíza is a coastal community at or below sea level and flanked by the Rio Grande River, and it’s people face perpetual risks due to flooding and natural disasters. When such disasters such as Hurricane Maria strike, Loíza’s 29,000 people are isolated on island within an island with no access roads to the rest of Puerto Rico.

For Loíza to restore and retain its self-sufficiency and resilient, basic health care and emergency shelter must be established. Currently there is no emergency shelter in Loíza and only one urgent care center that lacks even the basic equipment and supplies to provide medical care; current equipment is limited, antiquated and even rusted, and few medications are available to dispense.

The AESARA Foundation and partners, will continue efforts and assist with the procurement of medical equipment and supplies for self-sustaining resiliency.

By helping strengthen the disaster-readiness of these facilities, we can help preserve the welfare and safety of the people of Loiza today and every day forward.

Funds raised toward this effort will be distributed at no cost to the ultimate recipient, the people of Loíza.
