Sean’s Recovery Journey
Donation protected
We’ve prayed for this day for years. We’ve hoped and prayed that one day my brother, Sean, would make the decision to get the help he’s needed to get clean and sober from decades of drug and alcohol abuse. Though recent weeks and months have been a rollercoaster of emotion with as much setback as progress, Sean has finally taken the step that only he could take. For the first time, he has said he needs help...he’s done the research, made the calls and even as I write this is checking into a medical detox program.
This is only the first step, but it’s an incredible and extremely difficult one. Once detoxed (up to a few weeks), he will transition to a Teen Challenge (12 month, faith-based residential treatment program) Center. It’s here, once the chemical dependency is broken that he can begin the hard work of developing the discipline and character that will yield deep, lasting recovery and freedom from addiction.
We are so incredibly grateful that Sean is taking these steps and my family will do all that we can to make sure he gets the help that he so desperately needs, but as you can imagine, it’s incredibly expensive. The detox center alone could cost $10,000-11,000 and Teen Challenge, though costing much less, will still require some upfront funds that my family simply doesn’t have. As such, I prayerfully and humbly ask you to consider giving any amount that you can towards his treatment. No amount is too small...every penny is appreciated. We are under no illusion that this is a perfect system or that it’s a “sure thing”. Yet, my brother’s life and freedom from addiction are priceless to us and the potential reward (complete recovery) far outweighs the financial risk to us.
Please keep him and our family in prayer too as we step into (for us) uncharted waters. Our God is able to do this!
