For a $25 Pledge Recieve "You'd Be Laughing Now"
The Sean Carr Memorial Scholarship Fund was developed to provide a scholarship or research stipend to a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in journalism who exemplifies a commitment to reporting, researching and writing on topics of public policy, politics, public advocacy, and/or government administration and development.
This election shows us the need for great journalists with integrity, of which Sean Carr was a stellar example. In honor of the news cycle around the election, we are offering a special download of of a song written in Sean's memory for a pledge of $25.00 or more. Last year, the scholarship raised enough money to send two students through journalism school at Rutgers. This year we how to send at least three more.
As s a journalist he wrote about politics with a rare enthusiasm and vigor and an infectious sense of humor. Sean left us too soon, and as the intensity of the 2016 unfolded, we found ourselves many times wishing he were here with us to provide his cynical and humorous outlook on the insanity of it all.
We are sure that wherever Sean is now, he is laughing himself silly at everything that has happened this year, and we wish we could share those laughs. This song was written by Steven A. MIller, Sean's journalism professor at Rutgers, his classmate Tim Sullivan who worked under Sean's leadership at the Cook College Newspaper and their songwriting partner Donna Dior who also is singing the lead vocal. The proceeds from the sale of this song will go to the Sean Carr Memorial Scholarship which will serve Rutgers students pursuing studies in journalism. Sean's wish would be that others felt the need, the urgency and honor in becoming a great reporter like he was. Thank you for listening.
