Our small FIRST robotics team from SW Florida, in their second year, has earned a spot in the FRC World Championship in Houston, TX.  We are trying to raise money for registration, travel (for ourselves and the robot), and lodging in Houston.

FIRST (FOR INSPIRATION AND RECOGNITION OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY)
is a learning experience that gives students with an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) a chance to how off what they can do.  Students learn valuable team building skills, engineering skills, and business skills. FIRST robotics provides kids with hands-on experience whether it's making a business deal or building/programming a robot to accomplish a goal.  It gives students with completely opposite interests a chance to work together to make something amazing.

About our team:  The RoboRays are in just their second season as a restarted team, TEAM 1744 is moving on to the World Championship in Houston, TX, April 19-22.  Our final alliance won the Orlando Regional March 8-11.  After losing the first quarterfinal through Murphy's Law, we then won the next consecutive 6 matches, claimed the world record for highest scoring match, and WON THE REGIONAL.  Our little team of 12 students could not have been more excited, and tears were shed all around.

100% of the donations will go towards the travel and lodging for our team and shipping costs for our tools and robot.  Sending 12 students and 4 adults from SW Florida to Houston, TX is no small feat.  Sending this hard working team to the World Championships opens up incredible opportunities for the students.
