These are the roadblocks facing our middle school girls today. Girls need tools to troubleshoot life's challenges as they arise, and Seacoast Soul Models is here to help! Through our program's curriculum, Seacoast Soul Models will assist the girls in developing skills that will allow them to overcome the issues they face and find their authentic voice.
Seacoast Soul Models is a startup nonprofit organization that will serve middle school aged girls in the Southern Maine and Seacoast area. Our mission is to empower girls to discover their authentic selves as they become mindful, confident, creative and engaged leaders. This campaign is to raise funds for start up costs (i.e. 501c3 application, legal support, program materials, organizational development, liability insurance, etc..) as well as launch our 2016 spring and fall pilot programs.
Over the past few months we have been testing our programs as well as researching interest. The response from the many girls we have worked with, as well as parents, teachers, and guidance counselors has been overwhelming and has only enhanced our determination to make this program a reality. The girls of the seacoast community have indicated they want and would greatly benefit from a program like this - please help us to reach our goal!
Our program curriculum follows the central themes of self-care incorporating mind, body, spirit, heart and soul. Girls will explore these ideals through hands on activities that focus on the practice of mindfulness, yoga, creative expression, service and leadership. By utilizing a balanced approach, participants will deepen their understanding of the importance of presence and self-awareness in daily living while developing resiliency and strengthening their own inner compass. Upon completion of the program, participants will have ongoing support through a variety of social media options, as well as opportunities for continued involvement including leadership positions with the program.
The overall goal of Seacoast Soul Models is to offer girls the opportunity to explore their authentic voice in a safe and supportive setting while being introduced to tools that will increase their self-confidence and resiliency. Through activity-based programming, we will guide and support girls as they gain valuable life skills in the areas of creative expression, leadership development, stress-reduction techniques, and an ethic of service.
Our vision is that with these tools they will not only serve as role models in their community but continue to grow to become the confident, resilient, Soul Models of tomorrow.
