Support Short Term Rentals!

Share San Diego  is an organization that supports the sharing economy as a vital part of San Diego. We are Short Term Rental (STR) owners, hosts, supporters and operators working to establish common sense policies, protect homeowner rights and welcome visitors to experience our city and neighborhoods.

If you’re an STR host, here is why you need Share San Diego working for you!
The San Diego City Council is poised to debate whether to regulate or possibly ban STRs. San Diego’s zoning code does not currently define STRs at all.
STR opponents are actively lobbying their elected representatives, rallying at Neighborhood Council and Planning Committee meetings, with exaggerations that the majority of homes will turn into STRs and destroy neighborhoods and community character. They are well organized and very vocal.
If there is an outright ban or ill-conceived restrictions imposed, there will be severe ramifications including loss of tax revenue, owners forced to sell their homes, and/or affect their retirement nest egg, conversion of homes to student rentals, or unregulated underground STRs, and a substantial loss of tourism dollars spent by visitors that prefer to stay in short term rentals; they will simply go elsewhere. Yard signs are already being posted telling our visitors they aren’t welcome in our neighborhoods. San Diego was just named one of the World’s Smart Cities by National Geographic. This doesn’t sound smart to us.

As an STR owner/operator, your opinion and support counts! Share San Diego brings a balanced perspective to the table. We believe in fair, common-sense regulation. We provide context, not rhetoric, by debunking false claims against STRs, spotlighting STRs' vast economic benefits to the community, and promoting responsible STR management that protects neighborhoods. We are fighting to make sure that property owners and visitors to San Diego have a choice.
