Screening The Red Pill in Norwich
I'm hosting the screening of the movie The Red Pill in Norwich with many special guests attending (For a full list of special guests see below). I would like help covering part of the expenses in hosting this fantastic movie.
These expenses include:
- Travel and accommodation for the special guests
- Venue and equipment hire
- Filming for Q and A
The event will still be going ahead however any help in covering the heavy costs involved would be greatly appreciated! The target does not cover the full costs but does go a long way towards it.
The showing is completely free and as all costs are being covered by me, this campaign is to try and reduce this cost only. Any profits above these costs will be either spent on improving the event or donated to a relevant charity.
*This fund raiser is not aimed at making any profit and I refuse to do so out of principle!
Are there any stretch goals?
In the event more money is donated above the target this will go towards attempting to get more special guests and cover their costs to get here or other improvements to the event. if no more guests are found or more money is raised than is needed as stated already the extra will be donated to a good cause (likely a charity related to the movies subject material)
This documentary covers a Feminists Journey into the Men’s Rights Movement (MRM). Join Cassie Jaye as she falls down the deep and complex rabbit hole of men’s issues. The film starts as Cassie finds out about this supposedly misogynistic group of men online who post controversial articles and have been heavily criticised by the main stream media. Only when she digs deeper she finds those in the group raise genuine questions and concerns and begins to question her initial assumptions about the movement.
Where, When and how much to see it?
The movie is being hosted in Norwich (UK) for free on the 18th of January at 7PM (SOLD OUT, click here to view) and again on the 19th of January (click here to book tickets) and Cassie Jaye along with many other special guests will be attending for a Q and A panel after to make this event special (for those who wish to stay after the film).
Cassie Jaye - The film-maker herself
Mike Buchanan - Leader of the Justice for Men and Boys party
Erin Pizzey - Founder of the first domestic abuse shelter
Paul Elam - President of A Voice For Men
DrRandomerCam (*hopefully) - popular youtuber and MRA
Why are you hosting the event?
This is quite a difficult question to answer concisely but the short answer is I believe its raising important issues that have previously often been ignored or worse suppressed. I’m also a strong believer in free speech and despite the documentary being perfectly reasonable there are those who wish to silence/supress its release and I refuse to let them win!
Thank you and please give what you can, although the event will go ahead anyway it means allot to me that people are willing to donate and help make this event great with me!
Thank you everyone for your support. The screenings are now over and im happy to say were a success with a decent turn out both nights despite the difficulties faced due to cancellations etc. The first nights Q and A recording is being edited and will hopefully be uploaded to youtube in the next few weeks (currently the hope is to post it on Cassie Jayes youtube channel so keep your eyes there).
There is a livestream of Cassie, Erin, Paul, Mike, DoctorRandomerCam and myself talking recorded before the second screening where we discuss the first screening and other points. You can view this on DoctorRandomerCams channel here ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HR3VarOxvgM&ab_channel=DoctorRandomercam).
i will keep this fundraiser open for those willing to donate still.
Lastly but not least a local group has been created for those wishing to continue the discussion and get together around these issues which can be found here ( https://www.meetup.com/Norfolk-Norwich-Men-and-Boys-Issues-NMBI/)
This may be my last update (at least until the Q and A footage is posted) so thank you all for your support it is greatly appreciated!
Firstly the event is officially sold out both nights! This is fantastic news and means I can focus on the event itself and perhaps a bit more promoting of this fundraiser.
This event has also gotten some attention from local media with the evening news in Norwich writing a short article and I am currently pending a possible interview with a local but well know radio station.
We also now have a couple of feminists on the panel to give a more diverse perspective during the Q and A.
I can’t thank you all enough for your donations they have been extremely generous and helpful. I look forward to seeing many of you at the event on the night!
*Lastly for those wondering the venue has been announced directly with all the guests (pending a few who got the last tickets on the 19th), it will eventually be made public but as we have a confirmed list of guests we are keeping is private to these guests only for as long as possible to protect the venue from unwanted messages as much as possible.
Due to the venue change (caused by the previous venue cancelling) i have been able to add additional seats on the 18th which was previously sold out.
If anyone missed the 18th now is your chance to get tickets before it sells out again. The 19th is still going ahead as planned as well and will be in the same venue as the 18th (to be confirmed close to the date).
Again thank you all for your support and i look forward to seeing you there.
Our first screening event has only 1 ticket left, so its safe to say it has effectively sold out!
I have added a second screening on the 19th of January to handle the additional demand. There is still a chance our original venue will be upgraded as well so we will have plenty more space for people to attend.
Again thank you all for your kind support.
if your interested you can view the second event here
