In 2015 Scott had a terrible fall on his skis
that flipped a switch in his body...
Some of you know, many do not. Our family has been living with a crippling illness for the last 3 years(& counting). The official diagnosis is of Motor Neuron Disease & we now know that the symptoms do indeed match those of Motor Neuron Disease, but may very well have been initiated by multiple other factors that Scott has come up positive for. Various doctors across multiple disciplines have diagnosed each of the following conditions using exhaustive laboratory testing. These include; Neurological Lyme Disease, Epstein Barr Virus Active, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Mycoplasma Pneumoniae, Heavy Metal Toxicity, Leaky Gut, Autoimmune Disease/Dysfunction & Blood Brain Barrier Compromise. This cocktail of dysfunction at the cellular level is wreaking havoc inside of my husband's body. 


Our lives have been turned upside-down...
These unwelcome guests have stolen from everyone in our family, but most of all they have taken from Scott. He had a successful career in both Risk & Safety, & as a Director of Patrol & Mountain Operations in the Ski Industry that he dearly loved. It was his identity. As a first responder in his career Scott was a Volunteer Firefighter, EMT, as well as a Ski & Bike Patroller. He was forced to retire on Disability in 2017. He has slowly lost the use of his arms. He can still move his fingers a bit & move his hands at the wrist. There is muscle activation in both of his arms. This is key! He can still walk short distances with my assistance. It is my greatest honor & privilege to caretake for my husband full-time. 

So why are we mounting our forces now? What has changed? Can what Scott is dealing with be treated?
Scott has been accepted into a new, cutting-edge & highly specialized stem cell program in Guadalajara with Sential Group. Sential was organized in the U.S. & they currently operate out of Guadalajara. (The closest type of stem cell application to Sential's is 1-2 years from FDA approval in the U.S. & is currently in a Phase 3 Trial under a Stem Cell Therapeutics company out of Israel.) Some of the greatest minds in stem cell advancements are a part of Sential Group. Patients are being treated SUCCESSFULLY. We are in close contact with one such patient who has reversed his symptoms. His muscle atrophy and weakness have improved (& continue to improve daily) to a point that he has now resumed living as he had previous to his diagnosis. He is heli-skiing again. Other patients receiving this type of treatment in trial in the U.S. who were wheelchair bound are running up & down hallways, lifting weights, doing squats & most importantly LIVING. This is miraculous. The time is now for treatment.

What is the process of this treatment..?
This is a new treatment process whereby the Central Nervous System is bathed in Scott's autologous bone marrow stem cells as well as umbilical stem cells at the site of the brain stem itself. There is also application to the spine & other muscles that are affected. This is not a treatment application that is available anywhere else. Sential is accepting candidates very selectively & has treated patients from as far away as Germany. The brilliant thing with what Sential is doing is that this application stands to be able to be modified for use with a myriad of Neurological Diseases as more is learned. 
Scott will spend approximately 4 days in Guadalajara for each of 3 treatments over the course of approximately 6 months with 2 or so days in hospital on each trip. 


Urgency...
Every day that slips by we are flirting with an imaginary line that we cannot cross back over. Without this treatment my husband's muscles will continue to atrophy, ultimately not only taking his ability to move any part of his body, but also his ability to breathe. Scott needs to access this treatment as soon as is humanly possible.

Costs...

$28,500 - First Treatment, Bone marrow harvesting & stem cell preparation & administration via carotid artery & injection to various sites.

$28,500 - Second Treatment, Stem cell administration via carotid artery & injection to various sites.

$28,500 - Third Treatment, Stem cell administration via carotid artery & injection to various sites.

This is an approximate timeline as the treatments are between 2 1/2 to 3 months apart.

These approximate costs are due in full at the time of each treatment. Flights & accommodations are not included in the above treatment costs. We also know, all too well, that medical costs run over what has been quoted - this is unfortunately the rule rather than the exception.
