Sciences experiments for all kids!

Donation protected
Hello everybody!

I am on a quest to introduce science and STEM skills to disadvantaged children around the world.

Over the last 20 years, young people have shown less interest in studying Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics but we need scientists, engineers and innovative technologists to help solve the problems of the future. Students with limited access to education and resources are missing out on their potential all together.

After a successful trial in Quito, Ecuador, working with 13 classes on experiments such as chemical volcanos, paper planes or water rockets, the school was enthusiastic and want to pursue the project.

My goals are :
- help them learn while playing. We remember better if we have a good time while learning.
- show them different scientific phenomena in practice, not just the theories behind them.
- show them that phenomena and systems can be easy to understand when demonstrated properly, so that these kids can feel confident in their capacity to learn more about science and technology.
This last point is the most important. It can be a challenge for children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, as they may judge themselves as incapable of learning such material.
My last job was spaceship engineer and I hope one day they will be able to embrace studies or carrers in the STEM disciplines too.

I am convinced other communities of children around the world deserve to know the same wonder and excitement as this first group in Ecuador.

My next stop is Salvador, Brazil.

The items I use for the experiment are not expensive and mostly recycling products (empty plastic bottles, paper, etc), so that the kids could easily source the necessary materials. I'm currently financing this by myself, as it is voluntary work, so it could be really helpful to have some external help. That’s the aim of raising this money: for travel to these schools and daily life there (basically housing and food).

I promise you news, pictures and maybe children's drawings if you help me! :-)
