March for Science - Kansas City

$7,244 of $10,000 goal

We are a non-partisan group organizing Kansas City area people who love science and are interested in a sister march to the DC March for Science.

We support the dissemination of knowledge, facts, and learning. The censorship of science is dangerous and unethical.

We are looking to bring thousands of Kansas Citians together to celebrate science and let the country know that science isn't just fun. It's a fundamental key to our success and survival.

When you join, please fill out the survey so we can figure out who we all are! https://goo.gl/forms/raYzQx13OxgfWsUn2

Our Facebook page can be found here .

Follow: @ScienceforKC on Twitter.

All donated funds remaining after the event will be sent to a science-based charity for continued benefit.

We will march with the rest of the country on April 22, and we ask your help to cover the costs that go along with this kind of endeavor. Thank you!

Among the items that must be purchased:
-- City permits
-- Police/EMS time
-- Cleanup crews
-- Location rental (possible)
-- Stage and PA systems
-- Speaker fees (depending on amount raised)
-- Insurance

1. How you are related to your beneficiary
I am one of the four creators and coordinators of the March for Science in Kansas City.
2. That you are withdrawing the funds in your name
I have been withdrawing the funds in order to pay the bills related to the March for Science.
3. How exactly you will be delivering the funds to your beneficiary or using the money on their behalf.
I was putting the funds into a separate account that was used solely for paying the bills related to this event. I have receipts from each of the things that was purchased with money donated from the event.

What do we stand for? We stand with the consensus that the new head of the EPA denies. And we stand with all of you.
(Side note: We also stand with the programmers and engineers who make video games a reality. Thank you to all of you who helped with the Coins for a Cause happy hour at Up-Down Kansas City! The $974 raised there has put us over $5,000 raised!)
We have spent $700 on a city permit, $1,132 on insurance, and $2,500 on porta potties. We will still spend $2,500 on stage and PA equipment, plus hundreds more on clean-up, transportation, education booths and other expenses. More than 100 people have donated money, and even more have donated even a little time.
We stand for questions, hypotheses, experiments and analysis. We do NOT stand for bloviation, assumption and denial.
Join us. Let's get to 10,000 people in this group, and let's show people that science isn't a luxury.

Sure, bring a banner. "I still believe the earth is flat" would be appropriate verbiage.

Ah...the march for science you agree with. If you don't believe in "climate change" or "global warming", can you bring a banner?

The politicization of science did not come from science, but the task of resisting politicization has been added to the already immense efforts expected of science.

Why is this scheduled to prevent people from eating lunch?
