Science Teacher’s Open Heart Surgery

Mitchell Trager is not only a Science Teacher in need of heart surgery, he is my hero and has spent the past three years saving my life every day. He is scheduled, this December 4th, 2018, to have a Mitral Valve repair or replacement surgery to his heart due to a prolapse. He also has to have a hole repaired due to the stretching of his heart.

Mitchell is my loving husband and step-father to our two young children, as well as a dedicated Science Teacher. He welcomed us into his life and spends so much of his energy on loving and caring for our family. He is also loved by his school family, where he spends hours in and out of school developing and implementing Science lessons that inspire his students.

We learned of his need for the heart surgery, and two month recovery period, over this past summer. With the stress of having to endure docked-days, due to a limited amount of sick-days, he considered holding off the surgery. However, we were told that if he did not have the repair done within the year, he could possibly suffer further complications or heart failure.  

This is why we are reaching out for donations. Please help to cover the medical co-pays related to the surgery as well as cover the weeks that Mitch will be out of work, to support our family during this time of need. We are hoping to raise funds by January 7th, 2019.
