Edit: May 1 2018

Thank you so much for your support of this campaign. We very much appreciate it. At this time, we have decided to refund your donation.

We will be deploying some of the emergency services to our initial partner school districts without your help, since we did not raise enough funds to make a national impact in the near term. It is still, however, our hope to do so! To this end, we urge you to stay connected and follow our progress @villageworksco on Facebook, Twitter and our villageworks.co website.

In addition, if you would like to get involved or if you would like your district or local organization to have access to our services as they become available, please email us at parents@villageworks.co.

Thanks so much again and we look forward to keeping in touch.

HELP IMPROVE SCHOOL SAFETY

Please help us provide schools with the technology they desperately need to improve emergency response communications and keep our communities safe, unified and informed.  Free-of-Charge.

WHO WE ARE AND THE PROBLEM WE ARE SOLVING:

Villageworks is a group of impassioned public-school parents who are software developers, engineers, and product designers.   In the wake of recent public-school emergency incidents including shootings in Parkland, FL; Aztec, NM; and Marshall County, KY, it became clear to us that current public-school emergency response protocols are inefficient. Outdated communication tools based on the use of intercom and paper-rosters--coupled with a lack of state and federal funding--means that the latest technology remains elusive for the majority of districts. This results in slower response times from incident commanders (police, sheriff departmetns, firefighters) and agonized, uninformed family members.

THE SOLUTION:

Villageworks' parents came together to take matters into their own hands and develop an Emergency Response and Communications System that could be offered free-of-charge to as many public schools as possible.  This mobile and web-based platform will unify a school district’s entire community, from faculty members to incident commanders and families.  It will provide the critical tools needed to respond and communicate about any emergency quickly and effectively.  The system is called Villageworks Aware.

Villageworks Aware district launch partners include Southwest Preparatory School District in Texas, Cumberland County Charter School District in New Jersey and the Midview School District and Galion City School District in Ohio.

●  SIMPLE, SILENT INCIDENT REPORTING AND DISTRESS SIGNALING
●  RAPID EMERGENCY ALERTS VIA TEXT, APP AND CALLS
●  STUDENT AND STAFF SAFETY ROSTER
●  ACTION PLAN DISTRIBUTION
●  GROUP AND ONE-TO-ONE MESSAGING
●  INCIDENT MANAGEMENT SUMMARY
●  WEB PLATFORM AND MOBILE APP
●  ONE SHARED PLATFORM UNIFYING EVERY COMMUNITY MEMBER INCLUDING LOCAL INCIDENT MANAGEMENT TEAMS

OUR MISSION:

Our goal is to offer as many school districts as possible this emergency response and communications system, free-of-charge, to help keep our communities safe, unified, and informed. We want to change the paradigm from waiting for a solution and put safety in our own hands.

USE OF YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS:

Currently, there is not one system offering public- schools this service.  Current solutions are disparate and incomplete. They also total approximately $5 per student per year, an expense that unfortunately many districts can't afford.

That's where you come in. Your contribution will help implement this program in five pilot districts.  Once it is fully implemented in these districts, we will continue to make improvements, and then provide Villageworks Aware free-of-charge to any school district that wants it across the United States.

Your contributions will go to support the development, implementation, training and operational needs of this service.  Each dollar contributed will help us to offer the service to more communities.

UNDERSTANDING OUR REWARDS

Reward levels have been established based on the lowest expense a school would incur for a student group by a very basic emergency notification solution by other companies. The actual expense for providing the Villageworks' Aware solution to a group of students is based on the system integration, training, operations, and support costs as it relates to size of a given school district.  Each dollar contributed will help us to offer the service to more communities.  However, the quantity of students mentioned in the rewards is only for illustration purposes.

WOULD YOU LIKE TO IDENTIFY A PREFERRED SCHOOL OR DISTRICT FOR YOUR CONTRIBUTION?

If you'd prefer your contribution to potentially go toward a particular district, please clearly indicate the full name, state, and website of that district in your contribution comment. We cannot promise that your contribution will be used there, but will do our best.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO HELP?

We would greatly appreciate it if you could please share our mission far and wide by posting socially to raise awareness and encourage contributions.  Thank you!
