Scholarship Fund for Young Men!

Donation protected

What is this fundraiser for?
This independent fundraiser is for a scholarship assistance program for college-bound black male youth.

According to The Journal of Blacks in Higher Education, there is a severe gender gap in black student enrollment at institutions of higher learning. While black students as a whole are significantly underrepresented on college campuses, black men are considerably less likely than their female peers to attend college. This is particularly true at the nation’s most competitive institutions, and in Ph.D. programs, law school, and professional fields.

In attempt to close this severe gender-gap in black enrollment on college campuses, the Frank Monroe Scholarship Dance (also known as the annual “Kappa Gala”) was founded as an annual effort to help send more young black boys to 4 year colleges.

Last year, close to $20,000 was raised. With your help, you help increase that number this year.

Where is the money going?

100% of every dollar raised in this fundraiser will go directly to scholarship assistance for college bound, black male teenagers who attend high school in the state of New Jersey.

This independent fundraiser will be used to purchase 2 tables (20 tickets) at the 2017 Frank Monroe Scholarship Dance (affectionately known as the Kappa Gala) hosted by the Montclair (NJ) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

Once again: 100 PERCENT OF EVERY DOLLAR will be used SOLELY and EXCLUSIVELY for direct-scholarships for black male youth.

How It Works:
The target amount ($2,500) covers the cost of 20 tickets to the 2017 Frank Monroe Scholarship Dance hosted by the Montclair (NJ) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

All donations (from as little as $1 up) will be used specifically for that purpose. All donors will be warmly recognized by organizer Beau Younker at the 2017 Kappa Gala. Any donor making a contribution of $125 will automatically receive a ticket to the scholarship gala.

At last year’s Frank Monroe Scholarship Dance, over $20,000 in scholarship money was raised. The organizers of this years event are eager to exceed that number: your funds will help make that possible.
