Kathy's Recovery

Hi I am Kathy Malera-Bandjalan, a proud Bundjalung woman from the northern rivers of New South Wales - Australia.  As those who follow me on twitter at Malerajustice may know, recently I had major surgery from which severe complications arose.  The original operation was in late March of this year and I remain in hospital today. I have times when my life is touch and go with repeated returns to ICU and I remain confined to bed with nutrition and fluids provided through TPN.  More surgeries are anticipated over the next few weeks as the medical team try to pinpoint the source of the infection.  It is clear that my best prognosis is at least another 4 weeks in high dependency care. I pray to the spirits of my old people that the recovery process might commence after this.  As one might expect my bills have run amok with my inability to earn money.  Simply put, the stress of my continuing financial expenses is a further complication to my state of mind and ability to put all of my energy into my medical recovery.  As a Bundjalung woman from a proud First Nations family it is not easy to ask for assistance. But I do in this difficult time. As my twitter page will attest, I love all who believe in freedom and in justice for all humanity.  And when better I will continue the fight for a fair and just society. I appreciate that many out there are in a daily battle for survival and all I would ask of you is your thoughts and prayers as I continue this traumatic and emotional time. For those of you who are able to support me financially in any way, my appreciation would be greater than you could know.
