Brooklyn's Surgery Fund 3/29/2016

Brooklyn Eleanor Serini was brought into this world by her loving parents Theresa and David Serini on September 27, 2015. Her mommy was known to have had a condition of the head requiring surgical intervention to fix a suture that prematurely closed at birth. In addition, a family history of the same condition existed from her daddy's side. Knowing what we knew existed in our family, heightened awareness developed for our children and caused us to monitor Brooklyn's head very closely. Shortly after the birth of our precious baby Brook, our suspicions grew, that we may also be confronted with this birth defect in our child, that may require surgical intervention. The assessments of the Pediatrician's who followed her soon after birth began to confirm our biggest fear. At 2 months of age, the abnormal shape of her head was not changing and she was referred to Doernbecher Children's Hospital where she underwent a detailed physical examination by the specialists. The examination from that very appointment prompted a series of appointments and next thing we knew, a surgery date was scheduled. Our little girl is having surgery March 29, 2016 at 6 months of age. Due to the nature of this path thus far and this being an unexpected surprise after having our baby, we have been unable to plan for this financially and have been brought to this point; to raise money by asking for simple donations with the hopes of raising enough money to keep mommy at home with little Brooklyn for a total of 6 weeks, including the week in the hospital. This is extremely uncomfortable to be asking, but necessary to give my child what she needs, her mommy. I have been working to save vacation time at work, but will only be able to save enough for about 2 weeks of time.
