Port Macquarie Steiner School, it TAKES A BIG VILLAGE TO BUILD A SCHOOL!

Our humble beginnings began in a tiny lounge room in Port Macquarie early 2016, as a small group of parents and their young children, and a hunger for a more holistic, enlivening and relevant education for their children. We now have our first ever kindergarten class of 2018 thriving and growing... and 2019 will see us grow to Kindergarten, Class 1 and Class 2. 

Steiner education is whole-hearted, nurturing, child centred approach to education, designed to provide a balance of intellectual, artistic, imaginative and physical capacities and practical life skills.  The Steiner curriculum is based on the unfolding development of the child at each important stage of growth, with a strong emphasis on teaching through the arts and experiential learning.
Port Macquarie Steiner School is proud to be giving local families the opportunity to foster children’s development in line with Rudolf Steiner's philosophy and almost 100 years of foundations in educational practice.

So far we have built our little school on the hearts and hands of our wonderful community, and you can see this support and care for each other between parents and staff, and between the children too, every time you walk through the school gate. It is a labour of love, but the benefit to the community will reach far beyond our own children, and hopefully leave a legacy that benefits children, families and the broader community for many many years.

It should be said, IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD, and AN EVEN BIGGER VILLAGE TO BUILD A SCHOOL!

We need to add a demountable or mobile building to our school for 2019, as we are fast running out of space in our humble hall. As many of you know, Table Street is a temporary home for us, so we need to be able to take it with us when we find our land/permanent home. 

We also are in great need of more outdoor shelter with the warmer months of summer, and the vision of our outdoor learning are needs many hands and materials to bring to fruition. 

Beyond the year 2020 we will be needing to relocate to a new home, on our own land, where we will build our school to Class 6... so please watch this space and share widely. We will need all of you!
