Saying Goodbye to Brooklyn

It has been really hard to say goodbye to Brooklyn, who has brought joy to our lives and has been part of our family for the past 16 years. Anyone who has met or known her during this time can tell you that she was the most loving dog and we love her more than words can say. Brooklyn loved to play tag with us in the back yard and would run around in circles every time we let her outside. She was adventurous and was always excited to play in the snow, relax on the beach, or go for a car ride. She would get most excited around Christmas when we put up the tree and she always knew which presents were hers. Brooklyn has helped us during some of the hardest times of our lives and would cuddle up next to you and lick your face when you were sad. When she slept next to you, she made you feel loved and safe. It will not be the same without her, but we are thankful to have 16 amazing years of memories with her.

A few weeks ago she suddenly started showing symptoms of being sick and not acting like her usual self. We brought her to several vets, the second of which was able to confirm that her kidneys were failing and that we had to put her down so she could go as humanely as possible. It was all so sudden and we had less than a day to say goodbye. 

Unfortunately, in order to make sure she was okay, we are left with a mountain of veterinary bills that we cannot afford. We are only asking for what is left to pay after receiving donations from a few family members. Anything raised above our needs will be donated to Titan Veterinary Services in Warwick, RI. They went above and beyond to make sure she was as comfortable as possible as we said our final goodbyes. We are glad we were able to hold her and show her how much we loved her in her last moments.
