Sawyer's Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
Hi friends, I received some unfortunate news about my dog Sawyer while being deployed . Some of you may have met my boy and probably know how close I am to him. He has always been very loyal and a loving family dog. It was noticed a few weeks ago that he was having issues with excessive snoring. After examination by the Vet, he was shown to have a mass in his throat. After further examination by a surgeon and Oncologist in VT, he was diagnosed with a Mast Cell Tumor on his tonsil. These types of tumors can be common in labs, but the location of his tumor is not. Treatment for this specific type is tricky due to the location and how it could affect his breathing. Thankfully, additional tests (to include an ultrasound and multiple biopsies) showed no sign of metastasis. However, if he does not receive Chemo or radiation treatment soon, this could change. These types of cancer cells can spread quite quickly. The Vet team hopes to shrink the tumor enough with chemo to be able to operate in a few weeks, then treat with more chemo, and hopefully provide my dog with a clean bill of health. My wish is to see him again when I come home, but I know this will be a costly endeavor. I was told about Go Fund Me, but was hesitant at first because I don't like taking from others. However, I finally caved after looking at the forecast of medical bills that will follow. Vet bills will equate to thousands after diagnostics, treatment, and surgery. Over $3000 has already been spent on just to find out what is wrong with Sawyer. Other than this mass, he is very healthy and I hope to keep him that way for a few years more for Cristy, Lily, myself, and his fellow animal friends. Due to military obligations to include this current one, I will have missed over 2 years of his life. I do not know when I can come back to the States, but I hope to give my dog a big hug when I get there. Euthanasia is just not an option that I am accepting right now and has not even been brought up by the medical team. I want him to have as much life as possible and as all of us with pets know, they just do not live long enough! So, first and foremost, of course no pressure my friends... I just ask for some assistance if you want... any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and God bless.
