After his severe accident, Ricardo has held on to life - through injuries, coma and surgeries. Now it's time to shape the quality of that life.
Ricardo's mind and body need rehabilitation. The sooner he gets it, the better he can recover. However, his rehabilitation can't be paid by his insurance nor by Swedish social care (since he has lived in Spain more than 7 years).
Finding help is difficult, firstly because he can’t fly out of Tenerife (cabin pressure). Also, he needs to rehabilitate the damages caused to his language center. Right now he has aphasia while at the same time mixing three different languages (Swedish, Spanish and English). This makes each sentence a puzzle – if you can speak all languages. So finding a clinic that can understand him enough to be able to coach through his rehabilitation is not easy.
Against all odds, we’ve found a clinic in Tenerife where they speak all three languages- and they have accepted him. We have enrolled him there so he can get the care he needs, no matter what.
His company Saint Gobain Ecophon will be donating generously to aid his recovery. His family will be taking the rest.
