Saving Carlee, a Special Needs Dog

$2,961 of $5,000 goal

Raised by 70 people in 12 months

For those who have been to TLC adoption events, many of you have seen Carlee 'tooling' around in her wheelie. Carlee has Cerebellar hypoplasia and was dumped at Camarillo shelter at the age of 4 weeks old by a backyard breeder.

Carlee has proven to be a miracle baby, surviving when most with this medical issue do not.  TLC volunteers taught her how to walk in a wheelie (the first was made of Tinkertoys, paperclips and a sock), how to drink water from a bowl and eat on her own.  Eventually Carlee was adopted by a TLC volunteer who was fostering her and has become one of the many faces of No-Kill in our county - you don't kill animals because they are not perfect or require extra care.

Without warning on Friday evening, Carlee was rushed to ER after becoming lethargic and bright red.  She is still at the Conejo Valley Animal Hospital (as of Sunday morning) and the vet bills keep mounting.

At TLC, we know unexpected vet bills like this cause even more stress while you are worrying if your furry family member will survive or not, without trying to figure out if you can afford to financially keep your BFF alive.  So we asked the owner if we could launch this GoFundMe to help ease the strain of keeping Carlee alive.

Poor Carlee! One part of her small body starts healing and then another test is run to figure out what's going on and that area gets all bruised up! You have to wonder what is going on in Carlee's mind at this point... 'I already feel bad and then those that I love and complete strangers I don't know keep sticking me with more needles!'...
Yet another bruised area... sigh...

For those asking about Carlee, she has not relapsed and is holding her own right now. The vets still don't know what caused her to get so deadly sick and so quickly - virtually overnight. Despite having CH, Carlee has always been a healthy pup. This is a shocker to everyone.

She is still on all of the meds, and being fed every two hours around the clock. She has had SO many tests run, we are having to wait a bit for her veins to recover before they test for Addisons Disease.

As you can see from her bath photo attached, the area of her neck where the blood pulls for tests are done is looking MUCH better.

Please continue to donate, share and pray.
Just got my bath!

They are still not sure what is wrong with Carlee and have more tests to run, but her veins are 'blown' right now from all of the other tests so she needs to recover from that before they can proceed further. Meantime, they allowed her to come home late last night but her vet bill is over $5,000 now - for more info and copies of the vet bill please see the blog at http://tinylovingcanines.blogspot.com/2017/08/carlee-update.html
