Saving Animals At Nicaragua Zoo

People, we know that Nicaragua is having many problems in their country, people are struggling everyday. Everyone needs help including the animals. As many of you know I am not only a Pit Bull Advocate, but an animal rights advocate as well. These animals can't fend for themselves. They can't feed themselves. They can't even steal food to feed themselves. We as humans need to help them. The crisis at the zoo has left them with only the necessary funds for water and to keep the lights on. The nearly 800 animals the zoo helps and houses are hungry and suffering.
Just recently The National Zoo issued a press release, approximately ten days ago, an SOS due to the absence of visitors and lack of budget, which puts the lives of hundreds of protected species at risk. For this reason they are asking to the goodwill of people to help.
Dr. Eduardo Sacasa, president of the Zoological Foundation, explained that since the political crisis broke out in the country they have not received tickets and funds that are used to feed animals. In addition, many of the local businesses who help support the zoo have not been operating and as such, been unable to provide their usual support.
The Zoo, at risk of "extinction"
"Where are we going to get food? The budget only gives to pay for water services, electric lights,.......," said Sacasa, who feels overwhelmed by the situation. Thanks to the immediate help of some people outside the country, food was secured for the next two weeks, he said; nevertheless, this month alone they are in deficit and great need.
People, if the Zoo does not receive support and the foundation exhausts all its resources, they will have to "hand it over to the State", "the state is the owner. If that happens, the animals will die. The foundation has been the owner operator for the last 22 years.
