Save the St Stephen's Windows

Donation protected
St Stephen-in-the-Fields is a small Anglican parish in downtown Toronto with a major social justice and arts ministry. Our work takes place in one of the most significant historic buildings in the city, built in 1858, and containing, among other features, strikingly beautiful stained glass windows dating from the late 19th century, and made by the leading stained glass studios in Canada.

These windows are now in critically poor condition, and have been assessed by experts as being at imminent risk of glass failure. The Mary Magdalene window is particularly beautiful and at risk. We are working with the noted stained glass conservation Eve Guinan Design-Restoration, and have developed a plan which will preserve the windows into the future, but the total cost will be over $150,000.

Heritage Toronto has promised up to $75,000, if we can raise matching funds. The resources of the parish itself are spent to support our street ministry and other community involvements. We have applied to a number of foundations, but we also need help from you!

Charitable tax receipts are available for all donations above $10. (In order to send a receipt, we will need your mailing address, which you can send privately to [email redacted].)

Please help save Mary Magdalene and the other windows for future generations!
