Save the Schooner Pursuit
We are the Schooner Pursuit Historical Society and we are trying to save the Schooner Pursuit.
We have been at this for two years, and while we have made some progress in our campaign. We have not raised enough to save her from the long distance she is from home, the elements she faces, and the race against time to keep her from deteriorating. We need your help to save this one of a kind living history museum, and the dream of her being finished and brought to port on the Delaware river.
So, for now we need to focus on Storage. We are 3 months behind and we need to raise over $2,000 just to become current and not have the SAMC place a lien on the Pursuit (which would force us to sell her), and another $3,000 to bring us thru January 2019. So we are raising $15,000 to keep her stored and start getting her funded for the beginning stages of repairs.
Once funded, we bring the Pursuit home to the Delaware river. Open the ship to the public for tours and events while we are repairing her. The ship will help us to better show the communities along the Delaware our shared history on the lives of the men and women that were the unsung heroes of the day. Without their sense of adventure and in many cases sacrifice, our nation would not have succeeded. This interactive museum will set a permanent stage for better showing how the civilian merchant sailors of the revolutionary war helped to forge a nation free of England’s tyranny.
With the Pursuit in harbor on the Delaware we can provide charters, guided tours, special events, themed parties, festival cruises, and a unique style of entertainment not found anywhere within 200 miles of the Philadelphia region.
But before we can make this happen, we need your help to do it!
There are many ways you can help us:
Become a part of our docking crew: Donations up to $25 receive a thank you from the crew and special updates, $50 - $99 receive that, special offers on-line for our store, and special discounts for the museum once the Pursuit is on the Delaware.
$100-$249 Receives the previous and a free pass to the museum upon opening.
$250-$499 Receives the previous, an invitation to be a part of the SPHS, and an invitation to her re-christening.
$500-$999 Receives the previous and a free charter per year.
$1,000 -$4,999 Receives the previous and free admission during the restoration.
$5,000-$9,999 Receives the previous and an invitation to be a part of each celebration cruise on holidays
$10,000 or more Receives the previous and an invitation to sit on the Board of Directors as a partner.
