Help Save Exotic Animals in Ohio
I now have to swallow my pride and ask for all the help i can get. I need help to once again save the animals ive already saved once. Ohio has passed a law Banning the ownership of exotic animals. Giving us standards higher than zoos are required to have. These standards are so out of reach and expensive a normal working class man like me cannot afford to comply with new state laws and now my babies face to be Euthanized. Theres no place for them to go and zoos dont want them. Unless I can comply my babies will be killed. Ive obtained an Attorney and plan to fight this all the way. I need your help with attorney funds, caging upgrades, and permit fees. Im begging you to look into your hearts and dig deep into your pockets and HELP ME SAVE MY BABIES!
The state of Ohio passed an Unconstitutional Law banning exotic animals. Animals that have lived here for decades in captivity. Some animals are pets, family members or rescued from a bad environment. Owners have dedicated their lives to care for these animals. Now this new law enforces higher standards than zoos are required to have, owners can't afford to comply with these requirements. Animals will be confiscated then euthanized. Owners will face criminal charges. When all they did was love and care for these animals. It's not that these owners don't want to comply we financially can't. These are people who were legally licensed to posses these animals. Until the law changed. No one was Grandfathered in. We have obtained an attorney and continue to fight this law. We need everyone's help in saving the lives of these animals.
Sorry mate. You may have your animals for good reason but you still promote the idea that it is okay to keep animals that should only be in the wild. Give these up and spend your time trying to promote the conservation of endangered wild species. If you are that passionate about animals that is what you would do. If you are passionate about being around the animals then you are not truly an animal lover, you just love how they make you feel.
Maybe if everyone sent in FOIA requests for all of the correspondence and documentation the Ohio Dept of Ag has pertaining to how they have used delay tactics on approving applications and then say that "its too late" for approval/compliance after several months of having the application in their office holding it until past the deadline, more of the general public would see (if the documentation on these applications were posted PUBLICLY after everyone that sends in requests receives it, even if they must DEMAND IT) how exotic animal owners in Ohio are being railroaded, their 4th amendment rights are being trampled, and if its happening to ANY animal owners ANYWHERE (illegal seizures of their animals by tax-payer-funded government agencies in collusion with donation-funded animal "rescues" known as "retail rescues"), it can happen to EVERY animal owner with this corruption of power at these tax-payer funded government agencies, especially when they "partner" with corrupt donation-funded "rescues" that have made CAREERS out of nonprofit animal "rescue" and are literally "paid to rescue". "We the People" have a right to see ALL of the documentation because "We the People" FUND these government agencies with our tax dollars. Send in FOIA requests on behalf of Daniel and his beloved animals, and lets see how far up the food chain the corruption goes, and then expose the players in this corrupt activity that USES our tax-payer money and also USES innocent animals as pawns in cowardly peoples quest for $$$$, power, and control.
Sorry that your animals have been taken away.
Why do you believe they will be euthanized? Did you look for sancuaries if you feel they are going to be euthanized? Please dont let your animals suffer at Reynoldsburg even if it means they go to a Santuary now. Those dark cells are not humane. Think of your animals first. Best of luck for your animals.
You need to contact Kenny Hetrick. They did the same to him. Took all of his animals, including Leo who died while under the care of ODA
I am so sorry you are having to go through this.. I have been watching news on the laws Ohio has put in place for exotic ownership and it is unreal! Never in my life have I heard of laws so harsh and the requirements are unrealistic. I live in Wisconsin and do have a Class B USDA license, if it comes down to the point that you cant raise enough funds I will gladly take what I can to save them from death, we are in the process of starting a small zoo/camp. Government is causing the extinction of endangered species, zoo's cannot do save them alone, we need responsible private ownership to save animals! I have known many private owners who have far better living conditions than most zoo's.. Just a thought, but if you were to obtain a USDA license are you still required to go by state regs?
when is it right that those who have never raised animals, have no REAL knowledge of their care (book learning on this doesn't count) have the audacity to push through laws saying that no one can have/care for/love these animals?! don't they even care that these loved creatures will be killed because a bureaucrat got paid to follow another idiot's footsteps (last sentence directed at HSUS, PETA and the other organizations that want to do away with any contact)
Dan and his babies are neighbors to my parents. The animals are gentle and he truly cares for them. I enjoy visiting them . I am not fearful of them and think it is a disgrace they could be killed
I wish i had some money to donate. You deserve to keep all of those animals (i would call them my babies). You sre a certified zoo for heavans sake. They should be helping you not trying to close you.
