Save St. George Church

Donation protected
Your generosity will fund the phased restoration and preservation of this structurally sound & exceptional place of worship.

In March, 2016 a 3 week pledge campaign resulted in $73,000 in pledges to fund first phase of the restoration work once the church is reopened. This reduces original $90,000 GoFundMe goal to our new goal of $20,000.

Background information:
In the Fall of 2015, when it was announced that there was a plan to close, cannibalize and demolish the church, a group of dedicated parishioners formed the St. George Church Preservation Society, a PA Nonprofit, IRS 501(c)(3).

The group's mission is to protect and preserve the 105 year old cathedral style Catholic Church.

Designed and constructed in 1910 by the German Catholic parish, this church is an irreplaceable part of the history and character of the Allentown Neighborhood in the city of Pittsburgh. Click here to read the history of the church.

More information about our mission and our progress to date is available at:
www.stgeorgepreservationsociety.org

You can follow us on Facebook  , Twitter  and sign up  for our mailing list too.

When the restoration phases are completed, an endowment will be established to provide for the continued care and maintenance of the church.

Any remaining funds at the end of this project will be donated to the following charities: Disabled American Veterans, Salvation Army and the Humane Society.
