#SaveShadowhunters Toronto Campaign

After the announcement of Shadowhunters’ cancellation, the fandom has rallied far and wide, all over the world. Now fans in Toronto want to help spread the message and contribute to this fandom’s characteristic loudness.
Shadowhunters is not just any other TV show; it respectfully advocates for sexuality, gender and race equality, it puts forward messages of tolerance, acceptance and love. Shadowhunters brings rarely-seen-on-TV representation for a wide variety of people in the LGBT+ community. Plus, 5 out 8 main cast members are people-of-colour, and it also comments on social issues like racial profiling and corrupt governments. The show illustrates a variety of mental health issues, as well as drug-addiction recovery It presents men that are able to show emotions, without being considered weak and it showcases different strong female characters that are independent, capable and unapologetic about being so.
Our main objective with this campaign is to rent a digital billboard in one of Downtown Toronto’s busiest areas, the Bay Dundas curve. Our ad would run for 10sec in a 3min loop for 1 week, which adds up to 20 times per hour. This ad would run from July 30 - August 5. This area gets a daily circulation of about 31,000 people. Imagine the incredible impact that could have!
With the remaining money, we will most probably be sending the cast and crew cupcakes. If that doesn’t happen, the leftover money will go to charity.
We’ve been seeing #SaveShadowhunters campaigns all around the world, and it has been nothing short of heartwarming. The cast probably feels the same way seeing as we know they’ve seen pictures and videos online. But imagine them seeing a campaign in person, with their own two eyes.
Please help us in showing the cast how much we care about them, about this show, and about having our beloved show back.
