Lifesaving Veterinary Care for Pennie

Our beautiful chocolate girl, Pennie, became critically ill a few weeks ago which has left her fighting for her life.  After two weeks of intervention and treatment at our local vet she continued to decline and had to be admitted to the Virginia Emergency and Specialty Veterinary Center in Richmond. She is receiving IV support (hydration and medication) and nutrition/calories through an NG tube. She is showing improvement daily but still not taking any food by mouth. The vet recommends that she continue to receive treatment for several more days but we are tapped out financially. Our vet bills thus far have exceeded $8,000 and her hospital charges run around $1,300/day. No one should ever lose a treasured pet due to not being able to afford medical treatment for them but that is the harsh reality we are facing. If we are unable to raise this money we will not be able to continue to provide medical care for our beautiful girl. Pennie has a beautiful, sweet spirit and disposition and even as sick as she is she is still greeting her caretakers with little tail wags. She is still fighting for her life.
