Help Save Our Alpacas!
Donation protected
Round House Alpaca Farm is a small alpaca business in Northern Ontario. We started in 2014 and have built our herd up to 32 animals. This spring has been devastating as we have lost 6 alpacas to wild predators in the last 2 weeks including our cria who wasn’t even a year old!
The government is unwilling to help cover the cost of our losses as our farm is too small to be eligible for the “farm tax rate” (we don’t have enough gross income). However we can’t make money if we keep losing our animals so it’s (literally) a vicious circle. They have told us we need to build a “predator fence” around our property but this will cost approx. $20, 000. With no help/subsidy from the government, herd losses plus vet bills piling up, we simply can’t afford to do this. However, not putting up the fence could mean more losses in the future. So we’re asking you, our community, for help to raise the money to get the fences up and save our animals from further attacks! Every little bit will help get us closer to the $20, 000 goal.
