Save North Central Park

On October 2nd, the Laredo City Council voted unanimously to construct a Veterans museum at North Central Park, south of the trailhead facility.   The plans, for which there are no feasibility studies or financial projections, call for a six thousand sq.ft. bodega-style museum and a ten thousand sq.ft. covered palapa to be built on an ecologically sensitive tract of park space near homes and a playground.  Undoubtedly, a project of this magnitude belongs in a business or historical district, not in a tranquil, neighborhood nature park.  

In an effort to get the community involved in the fight to get City Council to reverse their October 2nd vote, Friends of North Central Park, a Facebook community, is trying to expand its awareness campaign by asking for donations to fund flyers, signs, and media advertisements.  These ads will help us reach more people that can influence Council to do what is right - build the museum NOT at the park.
