But Seriously, Folks! is the Batavia High School Improv Troupe and it is in danger of being disbanded! BHS is unable to provide the funds to keep the troupe going. We want Dominic Cattero to continue his work with these talented students. I, as a parent of the outgoing Troupe Leader, have seen the extraordinary changes in him and his fellow troupe members over the last 3 years. It amazes me how this group has influenced so many students to want to be a part of the troupe. There are more students auditioning for next year’s troupe that there is enough to have 2 troupes.
We have partnered with STAGE (Supporting Theatre Arts for a Greater Education) which is a not for profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Your contribution is tax deductible.

“Improv has changed my life for the better. When I started out in the troupe I was incredibly shy and wasn't willing to go out of my comfort zone. Over the 3 years of training and playing around with this troupe, I have grown into myself and have become more comfortable with who I am. It has shaped me into the person and the performer that I am today. I have made friendships that will last until the day I die. Had it not been for But Seriously Folks... I would not have had the courage to study a BFA at NIU in Acting for the next 4 years! Improv is a community, it's a teacher and an environment that strives to make a difference beyond just what goes on onstage. I've met people I'm now proud to call friends that I wouldn't have talked to otherwise. I've learned life lessons that will carry me through into the world. I came into this year terrified of not only improv, but of being myself. The gift of confidence, of trust in yourself and in others is only one of many in this environment that I have learned from. "Improv is an art form that teaches everyone important life skills, regardless of your job field. It teaches the actors to grow trust in others, grow confidence and even to take risks in life. It's given me the chance to have more fun than I could've ever asked for. It also helps with being selfless towards others in your life.
