What makes Geraldton an amazing place to live?
There’s lots of reasons, but a big part of it is the vibrant arts scene that adds a quirky touch to the town.
Geraldton’s local arts organisation, ACDC is at the heart of many of the projects that make Geraldton the vibrant city it is growing to be. But the arts strengthens our community many ways. ACDC’s programs use art to create a stronger more inclusive community.
The arts, through ACDC, gives people a voice. As well as working for the creative people of Geraldton, we have programs for those who are sometimes left behind including our young people and for people with disabilities and mental illness.
Our members are painters and craftspeople, producers and community artists, dancers and musicians, potters and glass makers. The exhibition program gives our artists exposure while regular workshops develop local skills.
In the last year – which we admit, has been a very hard one – more than 3000 people came through the doors to view the exhibitions and chat with our staff and volunteers.
And that’s just the beginning. A new bright future has been mapped out with a new and committed board and with the community’s help, ACDC will continue to serve Geraldton and surrounding areas as it has done since 1974.
The organisation is seeking the support of the community to raise funds to continue operating the gallery and run the projects that the community loves.
