2017 may sometimes seem to be doom and gloom with Trump in the Whitehouse and continual bad news on the TV and in the papers. But never fear as here at HCGC we make sure of a little bit of sunshine every day...even when it's raining!

Our appeal is not raising money for an exciting project, we are great at raising funds for those, but it’s much harder to raise money to cover all the background stuff...office staff...electricity...tea and coffee...even loo roll...but these are the everyday essentials we need to keep our wonderful centre open and sadly in 2017 we’ve got a real shortfall. In 2016 we raised nearly £15,000 and we would love to hit our target fo £50,000 this year. We are confident that all our lovely friends and supporters out there will rally round to help us reach our goal and make sure that 2017 at HCGC is as fun filled and busy as 2016 was!

Hulme Community Garden Centre was started in 1998 and our vibrant site incorporates a small garden centre and thriving community gardens, just a mile from the city centre. We aim to bring people together through gardening and provide vital green space for all to enjoy, relax in, learn from and be part of. Each week we run volunteering and training sessions and support people with learning disabilities and mental health issues to get involved. Demand for our services continues to rise each year and we are busier than ever. We have recently published our Social Return on Investment report which forecasts a social value return of £5.86 for every pound invested in HCGC. This means that every £1 you donate is worth nearly £6 to the community in benefits such as improved health and wellbeing, increased employability and stronger communities.

So if you've ever visited the centre and thought 'well that was lovely' or cooked over a fire with us or attended a free training course or enjoyed one of our free community events then please do think about giving a small donation to move us towards our target. £50,000 will mean we can continue to open seven days a week and deliver all the good stuff we are already doing.
