Save the Howland Home!

As a result of Hurricane Michael, a tree fell into the roof of Melissa's home. The tree, which is still on the home as of 10/13, has already broken through the roof and attic, and is now beginning to drop further into the home. If not removed soon, it will cause even more damage. Unfortunately, time is of the essence, and your support is needed in order to raise money so that this tree can be removed before this gets any worse.

We are raising money for Melissa and her family so that they can pay for tree removal expenses, as well as to cover their various needs. With power out and help limited, anything makes a difference.

Tree removal has been estimated at $4500, not including any repairs. We are trying to raise $6000 to help with any additional costs. Although insurance should help pay for this, there is no way of knowing how long that may take and we want to help before this situation gets any worse. At this time, they cannot pay the up-front costs, and we have no way of knowing how long insurance may take. Without your help, their home and livelihood is at great risk.

If you have access to resources in the Florida area who would be willing to help with tree removal, that would be huge!

Again, time is key here, as we want to make sure that no more damage occurs.  If this does not get addressed soon, the side of the home may collapse, so we are really hoping to address this before this might happen.

If the insurance does cover the costs later, we hope that this money will help to cover any costs not covered by insurance for home, vehicles, food, and anything else they may have needed during this time.
