First Lady Barbara Bush changed my life forever. The first lady invited me to paint her portrait in a garden at the White House in the summer of 1991.  Mrs. Bush made me feel at home in the White House family quarters, the Jacqueline Kennedy Garden and even the Oval Office during the five hot days we worked together that July.

I was born in Vermont; my mother was an artist and my dad was an engineer. Growing up, there were always craft supplies around the house and a sense that making or creating was better than buying. My love for painting continued to blossom and develop while attending the University of Vermont and the Boston School of Art. Best known as an Impressionistic painter and Copley Master, I paint views of American scenes, especially landscapes of treasured locales and people at play in idyllic locations. Critics have called me the “Grand Dame of Boston Painters.” God has blessed me with my talent to create works of art, which I truly grateful to share.

Sadly, I’ve fallen on hard and desperate times.  I’m 66 years old and may soon be homeless.  But I look on this as God's gift to me to change and look to the future as brighter and better.

My father built my home as an art studio for my mother upon their retirement in 1977. My first husband and I purchased the home in 1992 as our permanent residence. After my husband’s death, I remarried a man who misrepresented who he was.  By the time I realized this, most of my money was gone, the house was over-leveraged.  Divorcing myself from him was the best thing I could do, as hard as it is living alone.  I have had to forgive and leave this behind me.

This April, the court issued a foreclosure and eviction notice. I’ve tried legally to save my home, but the court has ordered me to move. I have had to forgive myself and leave this behind me too.

For as long as I can remember, people have told me how much they love and appreciate my work. I love the Low Country and have continually used my talent to benefit many organizations in our community. Now I need your help.

How can you help me save my family home and ensure my continued involvement in the Low Country art community?  First, Go to my website  and buy some of my one of a kind, investment quality paintings, at a fraction of the original price. While they last, you can use the coupon code   70% off  at check out and buy one of my original paintings for 30% of the appraised value.  The paintings will look great in your home and help me save mine as well! Already I'm enjoying this, reconnecting with friends, meeting new friends and finding better homes for my art.

I am constantly asked, “Candace, how else can I help you”? To that end, I have established a GoFundMe page, which will allow you and others to make a generous donation to my cause. The math is simple. If 2500 people would donate $200 dollars each, I can save my family home and studio.  As an additional thank you and incentive to give, for every $200 gift / donation made to my GoFundMe  campaign, I will send you a personally signed, limited edition (2500) Fine Art Giclée reproduction on archival paper 17x24 with the image size 10.5"x18" of my painting, “The Edge.”

“The Edge” is an original oil painting of the Northern most point of Hilton Head Island. This painting is currently on loan to the Hilton Head Island Art Center and is my largest painting to date, measuring 6’ X 10’.  If I get my home/studio back, I’ll donate the original painting to the Town of Hilton Head to celebrate this stack -stone event.   So, just click on GIFT  and I will ship the Giclée to you as my humblest thank you. We both will benefit from your generosity and you will get to enjoy this world-class painting for years to come.

If I may assist you please call or text me at 843-540-3963 or email me at cwl@candacelovely.com

Thank you in advance for investing in me in my time of need.
